About CLRS

The purpose Crazy Legs Race Series (CLRS) is to promote non-pavement races in the Northwest Indiana region through the development and management of new and existing races. Jennie Hamilton was a 2003 graduate of Purdue University Northwest who devoted her all-too-brief life to health and fitness. Jennie had a passion for endurance events and was always searching for tough races to test her abilities. At the time of her death in the summer of 2006, she was training for the Ironman Triathlon (swim 2.4 miles, bike 112.5 miles, run 26.2 miles) and was considering returning to school in the nursing program to further her ability to reach out to others and provide assistance for their health needs.

This race is to honor the memory of Jennie Hamilton and continue the legacy she began of health, fitness, and education. Part of the proceeds from the race will go toward the Jennie Hamilton Scholarship Fund.

This is the 10th annual Crazy Legs 10k Trail Run. Because of the snow storm that canceled this race in 2017, runners from last year are allowed to transfer their registration to 2018. All of those runners are added and now it is open to all. My permit limits the amount of runners, so once the limit is reached, a wait list will be started.

The scenic 10k+ (~ 6.5 miles) course is located in Devil’s Backbone Open Space. You will start on pavement for 0.25 miles, then heads on to the trail. The finish line will be located in the trail head parking lot. During the race, you will encounter rocks, dirt, hills, other trail users and wildlife.

Registration allows you entry into the post race celebration, where the award ceremony and raffle will be held, and light refreshments and coffee will be served. I am working with Dark Heart Coffee Bar to host our celebration. More details will follow once we get it all together.

Parking is available at the trail head but is very limited. Please carpool, if possible.

Chip timing? No, baby. We are going old school. After crossing the finish line, you will be handed your overall placing on an index card. Please turn this card in as soon as possible.

This race is part of the 2018 Crazy Legs Race Series.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IF THE WEATHER CLOSES THE TRAIL, I WILL BE UNABLE TO RESCHEDULE THE DATE. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS. THIS IS WHY I MOVED THE RACE TO JUNE THIS YEAR.
